A fantastic opportunity is available at Lake Argyle Cruises for the role of Skipper/Tour Guide for the 2025 season. Lake Argyle Cruises is a small & family-owned company located 70kms from Kununurra in the East Kimberley, WA.
We offer public and private cruises, wildlife charters and have a range of hire equipment.
As a Skipper you are an integral part of ensuring our guests experience the highest levels of service and maintain safety as a priority while conducting our tours.
Applicants must be willing to commit to the peak season; work is available from March onwards, but we would need you by May at the latest, with full time hours available until at least September 2025. This is a remote role, where you will be living and working at Lake Argyle Cruises. As such, please consider the challenges and rewards of living in a remote location for an extended period.
Responsibilities
Conducting daily cruises (we have a range of cruises including Morning Cruises, Sunset Magic Cruises, Private Charters, Overnight Camping trips). During the peak season, you may be required to run 2 cruises per day.
Ensuring the safety of all visitors and crew on board
Preparing boat for daily use – Cleaning, packing/unpacking, refuelling, emptying waste
Greeting guests and assist with boarding; followed by welcome/safety brief, full commentary delivered throughout most cruises
Maintaining the presentation and maintenance of vessels
Daily check and report on equipment; specifically, safety equipment
You will be required to be flexible in your working practices and undertake other duties as directed by management, including but not limited to preparing and cleaning hire equipment, cleaning passenger buses
Strictly adhere to all Health and Safety policies
Complete health and safety training in line with current legislations
Adhere to all organisational WHS policies and procedures
Applicant Requirements
Minimum 2 years' experience as a Skipper
Experience in a customer focused environment
Ability to provide full commentary during cruises, comfortable with public speaking up to 40 pax
Interest in wildlife, nature & local area
Ability to work as part of a tight knit team and communicate with a broad demographic of guests
Service of sunset provisions inclusive of alcohol and snacks. Must have ability to deliver efficient service with a smile
Self-motivated with the ability to work well under pressure and autonomously
Strong organisational skills
Positive, friendly, and enthusiastic energy
Qualifications
Coxswain NC1 or higher
First Aid (Current CPR)
Manual driver's license
RSA, or willing to attain prior to commencing position
HR Licence with PTD authorisation - Desirable but not essential
Employment Package
Above award hourly rate, overtime rates, penalty rates + super. Minimum 38 hours per week. Hourly rate dependent on Coxswain/M5 qualification. Minimum hourly rate of $35.01.

Free use of hire equipment
Accommodation for couples is limited – we can potentially arrange powered sites for those travelling in their own caravans.
