About the role
The Electrical Tradesperson plays a key role in the construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of transmission and distribution systems, working under the leadership and guidance of a Team Leader.
In this role, safety and teamwork are paramount. The Electrical Tradesperson is accountable for operating effectively as part of a crew, ensuring all tasks are completed to the highest safety and technical standards. Responsibilities may extend across the maintenance, construction, and commissioning of high-voltage assets within the transmission network — supporting the reliable delivery of energy to customers and communities. Duties also include working on secondary systems, performing routine maintenance, carrying out HV switching, conducting injection testing, and undertaking relay interrogation as part of substation and network operations.
Day to day you will:
* Maintain, construct and commission high voltage secondary systems
* Undertraining maintenance, construction and fault-finding of substation switch gear, transformers, substation protection schemes, relays and associated equipment
* Operating HV switching of primary plant
* Read and interpret drawings
The role requires work across multiple locations within South Australia and, where necessary, interstate.
About you
The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on safety, precision, and technical expertise and will be a clear communicator and a quick problem-solver, capable of working confidently with high-voltage systems.
Specific qualifications and experience required include:
* Knowledge and experience in maintaining high voltage primary and secondary assets of transmission and distribution systems.
* Current SA Electrical Trade Certificate.
* Current SA Electrical worker registration
* Current construction industry white card
* Current South Australian Driver's License
Desirable:
* High Voltage Switching Operator Accreditation (Cat 20 & Cat 2)
* Secondary systems knowledge -
* Relay interrogation experience
* Testing of Omicron software
* High risk EWP and Forklift licences
* Working at heights qualification
* Current First Aid and CPR qualification
