Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic Job Opportunity

A highly skilled Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic is required to maintain and repair our fleet of heavy vehicles, including Kenworth trucks. The ideal candidate will have a trade qualification in Automotive Mechanics (Heavy Road Transport) and experience with maintaining fuel trucks and trailers.


Key Responsibilities:

* Regularly service and inspect heavy vehicles, ensuring they are roadworthy and compliant with safety regulations.
* Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and brake servicing.
* Identify and report wear and tear issues before they lead to breakdowns, minimizing downtime and ensuring the smooth operation of our fleet.
* Assist with minor mechanical repairs and more complex repairs as required, working independently and collaboratively with other team members.
* Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance and repair work, ensuring that all relevant information is up-to-date and easily accessible.


Work Environment:

* A Monday - Friday roster with a 6:00 am start time provides a stable and predictable work schedule.
* On-call rostered responsibilities ensure that the workshop remains staffed and operational at all times.
* Occasional travel to other depot locations may be required, providing opportunities for professional development and exposure to new environments.


Requirements:

* A trade qualification in Automotive Mechanics (Heavy Road Transport) is essential for this role, demonstrating a high level of technical expertise and knowledge.
* Knowledge of Kenworth Trucks is highly regarded, reflecting the importance of this brand within our fleet.
* Experience with maintaining fuel trucks and trailers is desirable, highlighting the value placed on applicants with relevant industry experience.
* Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised, while maintaining a safe work area, showcases independence and self-motivation.
* Proven culture of safety, understanding hazard identification and risk assessment process, ensures that the workshop remains a safe and healthy environment for all employees.
