Local council in Sydney is seeking an experienced Planner for a 6-month contract role within the City Planning, Development and Transport Division, Planning Assessments Business Unit.
This role is critical for the efficient assessment of development-related applications, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and City policies. The Planner will be a part of the Fast Track team, focusing on general Development Applications (DA), outdoor dining, and minor heritage works (HWC) applications.
Key Accountabilities:
* Manage the project lifecycle of development applications from lodgement through to determination.
* Draft high-quality written reports for decision-making bodies, including the Central Sydney Planning Committee (CSPC) and Local Planning Panel (LPP).
* Provide expert planning advice to Area Planning Managers, internal units, and external government authorities.
* Coordinate internal and external development referrals.
* Serve as an expert witness for Council in the Land and Environment Court when required.
* Maintain a high standard of customer service for applicants and residents.
Essential Criteria:
* Tertiary degree qualifications in Urban Planning, Architecture, Urban Design, or a related field.
* Proven experience in the assessment and resolution of planning, heritage, and urban design issues associated with development applications, preferably within a local government context.
