Reporting to the Onsite Supervisor, the role of the Machine Operator is to produce quality work, produced on-time and to the required standard.
The incumbent is a member of a group of personnel who conduct allocated tasks within a stipulated timeframe and to the requested quality. The incumbent works a combination of work patterns overseeing output in conjunction with immediate supervisor or leading hand to ensure all allocated job scopes meet or exceed expected safety and quality requirements.
The incumbent's relationship with other team members is critical to the success of this position and the success of the business.
General Responsibilities
* Actively support and keep in close communication with the immediate supervisor and or leading hand
* Ensure that every job is thoroughly understood before commencing work
* Immediately report all HSE incidents or hazards to the immediate supervisor
* Abide by legislation, always following Procedures implemented by management
* Correct use of communication channels and be aware of incoming correspondence
* Maintain and operate mobile plant, i.e., Excavator's, Loader's, Grader's, etc in accordance with OEM and Safe Work Instructions
* Apply skills and knowledge to every task undertaken
* Maintain fit for work status in accordance with Jilpanti Policies and Procedures
* Maintain required site inductions, specific site requirements, and other training as required
* Conduct assigned tasks in a safe and efficient manner, complying with set Policies, Procedures, Regulatory and Industry Standards
* Ensure Safety, Environmental and Quality compliance by:
o Taking part in and attending regular toolbox meetings
o Undertaking daily housekeeping practices in immediate workplace and surrounding areas to ensure a clean and safe work environment
o Conducting Individual Risk Assessments (i.e., Take 5's), minimum 2 per shift
o Reporting / correcting any unsafe conditions or practices and ensuring hazards are controlled until corrective actions are taken; and
o Simulating other activities to achieve similar required expectations of this nature.
* Actively seek out ideas for continuous improvement
* Provide accurate information regarding job activities and equipment condition to immediate supervisor
* Seek assistance where required
* Carry out duties as directed by site supervisors and other relevant management personnel, provided it is safe to do so
* Carry out daily equipment / vehicle pre-start inspections and immediately report any faults to the direct supervisor
* Adhere to any environmental or heritage compliance plans
* Complete all required paperwork as per Jilpanti standards including timesheets
* Wear and look after appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required for the task being undertaken
Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Abilities
Mandatory
* Construction Induction (White Card / Blue Card)
* Current 4WD Certificate
* Qualifications (Certificates) in operating an Excavator
* Experience in operating Heavy Earth Moving equipment (i.e., Excavators, Loaders, Dozers, and Graders etc.)
* Experience in mining and or construction industry, relevant to intended employment location
* Strong work ethics and a positive attitude towards WHS
* Ability to follow directions and work effectively in a team environment
* Ability to undertake FIFO roster ideally 2 / 1 or 2 / 2
* Australian un-restricted "C" class drivers' licence
* Qualifications (Certificates) in operating Dozer, Loader, Bobcat, Grader, Roller, Dump Truck
* Current working at heights certificate (within 2 years)
* Previous FIFO experience
* Previous experience working in remote locations
* HRWL DG or RB tickets (Current)
* First Aid ticket (Current)
* Willing to undertake training in Certificate III in Surface Extraction
