The Role This family-owned and operated enterprise has experienced significant growth over the past four years, doubling both its land size and production of irrigated cotton, as well as broadacre crops such as cereals, pulses, and oilseeds. Each year, they produce between 400 and 600 hectares of irrigated cotton and 1,500 to 2,000 hectares of winter crops. The business is committed to producing high-quality products and further developing the land they have acquired. As a family-operated farming business, they are seeking suitable staff to help add value and contribute to the ongoing growth and evolution of their operation.
Always looking to develop and improve the operation, they have good infrastructure with a large new shed for grain storage. They operate predominately all modern fleet John Deere equipment under 10 years old, including tractors, harvesters, cotton pickers, planters, as well as some earthmoving equipment.
As a senior farmhand, the candidate should be familiar with and confident in performing tasks related to the cultivation of irrigated row crops and cereal crops. This includes but is not limited to, tillage work, hilling up rows, cultivating, applying fertiliser, spraying, planting, siphon irrigating, and harvesting. The candidate must be capable of working independently or as part of a small team and should be motivated by job satisfaction and the completion of tasks in an efficient and effective manner. Additionally, they should have a genuine passion for the production of food and fibre.
The Offer The successful applicant will receive a generous remuneration package, which includes accommodation, internet, a work vehicle, and an electricity allowance. A comfortable three-bedroom home is available, located 20 km from Wee Waa, with a school bus stop right at the front gate.
