Position: Cook
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $70,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation per annum
Location: Preston VIC 3072
Our client is seeking an experienced full-time Cook to join their Indian restaurant located in Preston, Victoria.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Ensure food is prepared to a consistently high standard.
2. Menu items are completed and delivered ensuring customer satisfaction.
3. Ensure all food is produced within budget requirements: minimising waste and costs.
4. Ensure hygiene standards are maintained at a sufficiently high level and an approved food safety plan is implemented.
5. Monitor and maintain all kitchen equipment in correct operating order.
6. Liaise with Head Chef to ensure consistency in product and materials.
7. Enforce nutrition and sanitation standards for kitchen operations.
8. Ensuring a high level of team performance
9. Receiving and storing food to health dept requirements
10. Attend meetings as required
11. Prepare and cook high quality food according to menu guidelines and recipes
12. Supervise members of the kitchen team who are responsible to you
13. Help to create positive communication between floor and kitchen staff
14. Receive and account for suppliers and deliveries
15. Assist with the training of staff, including any apprentices and trainees
16. Follow correct hygienic food handling practices
17. Follow the restaurants regular cleaning and waste disposal practices
18. Use safe work practices and support others to use them
19. Maintain kitchen equipment and plant in good condition
20. Demonstrate sound teamwork / organisational skills
21. Monitor revenue and cost performance
22. Guarantee Quality Standards
23. Practice cost controls
24. Maintain the kitchen
25. Complete administrative duties.
Requirements:
1. Minimum Qualifications: AQF Certificate III and Certificate IV in a relevant discipline (e.g., Commercial Cookery)
2. Minimum Experience Required: 1 year (full-time equivalent)
3. Must have demonstrated prior experience preparing Indian Cuisine.
