Position Overview
On behalf of After Builder Pty Ltd trading as ConCity, an opportunity is available for a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Technologist to join our growing team. Position Responsibilities and Tasks
* Assisting engineers and project teams in the design and development of structural steel, metalwork, and civil fabrication components for construction and infrastructure projects.
* Modifying fabrication methods and applying improved welding, cutting, and assembly techniques to meet project specifications and site conditions.
* Supporting the interpretation of engineering drawings and assisting in design drafting, workshop detailing, and fabrication planning activities.
* Carrying out testing and evaluation of metals, welds, and fabrication techniques to ensure compliance with quality, strength, and safety standards.
* Overseeing specialist fabrication tasks including estimating material quantities, production sequencing, and workshop operations control.
* Providing technical input and practical advice on metal fabrication methods, materials selection, and installation approaches for civil and commercial projects.
* Preparing and reviewing work programs, fabrication schedules, and production plans to ensure accuracy, feasibility, and alignment with project timelines.
* Planning, coordinating, and supervising fabrication teams and trades to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to engineering requirements.
* Inspecting completed fabrication works and installation processes to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and Australian Standards.
* Supporting continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies in fabrication processes and recommending safer, more efficient engineering and workshop practices.
Qualifications and Skills
* Relevant qualifications in Engineering (or closely related field).
* At least two or three years of relevant experience construction, civil, or infrastructure projects.
* Strong technical and analytical skills for interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
* Effective communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with engineers, site teams, and fabrication staff.
* Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy, quality compliance, and safe fabrication and construction outcomes.
