General Description: The Housekeeping Supervisor is part of the Cathedral Lodge housekeeping team responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of guest accommodations, lodge, and grounds. The role includes training team members, managing linen and cleaning supplies inventory, scheduling staff, and ensuring a wage and expense budget is maintained.
The Supervisor attends weekly meetings, fosters a strong team‐oriented environment, and collaborates closely with the General Manager, VP of Hotels & Ownership. This position is an integral member of the housekeeping department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Ensure quality guest experience by providing consistent and efficient service and the highest level of cleaning.
* Supervise the performance of Housekeeping Attendants, correcting deficient conditions, behavior, and work practices.
* Inspect guest cabins, guest areas and assess compliance with all established standards (cleanliness, maintenance, safety, and security).
* Mark and grade guest rooms for bonus purposes.
* Ensure staff schedules meet lodge and guest arrival/departure requirements.
* Promote outstanding guest relations and communicate guest comments from the Front Desk to the team with daily recognition.
* Monitor and handle guest complaints/comments and guarantee a seamless guest experience.
* Accommodate guest requests for housekeeping items or additional supplies in a timely and courteous manner.
* Communicate consistently, promptly, and daily with Maintenance and Front Desk teams to ensure total guest satisfaction.
* Maintain a system for lost and found items between the housekeeping team and Front Desk.
* Maintain a clean and organized housekeeping room.
* Actively promote a safe work environment and the use of environmentally sensitive cleaning products and procedures.
* Follow all emergency manual procedures.
* Perform additional responsibilities as requested by the VP of Hotels and General Manager.
Leadership & Development
* Maintain strong communication and relationships with all Cathedral Mountain Lodge departments.
* Prepare weekly work schedules and adapt to occupancy trends and departmental demands.
* Develop an effective departmental team through orientation, performance reviews, and training needs assessment.
* Conduct mid‐season performance reviews in partnership with the General Manager and HR Department.
* Follow up daily on uniform and appearance guidelines per the Rooms and Grounds manual.
* Provide timely feedback to the team and General Manager regarding performance issues.
* Report all disciplinary action to HR.
* Lead informal daily briefings to set goals, motivate the team, and coordinate tasks and check lists.
* Encourage a positive, team‐oriented working environment.
* Solicit, listen to, and deliver on the needs of the housekeeping team for departmental improvements.
* Promote knowledge of Moraine Lake Lodge, Cathedral Mountain Lodge, and Banff National Park among team members and guests.
* Develop strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
* Attend weekly manager meetings, contribute ideas, and actively participate.
* Obtain and share knowledge of local history and information with team members and guests.
