Role SummaryLocation:Sunshine HospitalEmployment Type:Fixed Term, Part TimeSalary:Specialist Year 1 to Year 9 (HN16 to HN59) + Superannuation + Salary PackagingAbout the role Western Health is looking for enthusiastic Emergency Physicians to join the team at Sunshine Emergency Department for a fixed term position due to short‐term Dept of Health funding. Up to 76 hours per fortnight are available to commence from July to January 2026 with a variety of morning and afternoon shifts, covering 7 days per week. Nonclinical hours are incorporated too, consistent with the EBA.Successful applicants will be expected to provide expert clinical care to patients within the dynamic environment of the Emergency Department (ED) and Short Stay Unit. They will work collaboratively with multi‐disciplinary staff within ED and across the broader hospital. A commitment to quality timely care is required, as well as an appreciation of the responsibility and leadership expectations of the senior medical role.The Sunshine Hospital Emergency Department manages over 100,000 annual presentations and is a mixed adult and paediatric ED. This role covers adult presentations, but the applicant will also assist with paediatric presentations on occasion. The department is divided into areas with Emergency Physician oversight in each of resuscitation, SSU, main cubicles, fast track, and front‐of‐house area. Exposure to each area provides an interesting variety of presentations from the expanding, diverse western suburbs of Melbourne.Key responsibilitiesEmergency consultant supervision of patients and junior medical staffManaging ED flow and prioritising the Statement of PrioritiesEducation and training of junior medical staffAbout you Enthusiastic emergency consultants are encouraged to apply for these short‐term fixed positions.
