Overview

Senior Environmental Advisor — Job type: Full Time — Permanent — Location: ACT. Seymour Whyte is delivering multiple complex civil infrastructure projects across the Canberra region. Our teams work on a diverse range of engineering projects, including wastewater treatment plants, bridge construction and dams, offering genuine variety and long-term career opportunities. Relocation support may be available for suitable candidates. This is a hands-on, site-based role where you\'ll play a critical part in ensuring strong environmental outcomes, regulatory compliance, and positive community engagement throughout project delivery.

Responsibilities

* Providing onsite environmental leadership and advice across live construction activities
* Preparing, reviewing and implementing Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMP), sub-plans and Environmental Work Method Statements
* Supporting compliance with environmental licences, approvals, permits and project conditions
* Conducting inspections, audits and monitoring activities, and supporting corrective actions
* Delivering environmental inductions, toolbox talks and targeted training
* Managing environmental controls, monitoring effectiveness and coordinating maintenance
* Supporting sustainability data collection and reporting (water, waste, fuel, energy, materials)
* Leading community and stakeholder engagement activities, including complaint and enquiry management
* Mentoring and supporting project-based environmental staff
* Contributing to continuous improvement, innovation and best practice across projects

Qualifications

* A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering
* Minimum 5 years experience in environmental roles within civil engineering and infrastructure
* Solid working knowledge of environmental legislation, approvals and compliance obligations
* Experience developing and implementing CEMPs and environmental sub-plans
* Confidence working directly with project managers, supervisors, subcontractors and clients
* Experience conducting inspections, audits and compliance reporting
* Completed training in Blue Book 1 & 2D and Erosion & Sediment Control
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing site priorities
* Full driver\'s licence
