Key Responsibilities
* To excel in this role, you will diagnose and resolve complex network faults on metro and long-haul transmission systems.
* Maintenance and replacement of active and passive telecommunications equipment is also a crucial aspect of this position.
* You will be responsible for producing detailed fault analysis reports and recommending improvements to ensure faster resolution.
* Maintenance of planned works is essential to ensure Service Level Agreement (SLA) compliance.
* Liaising with customers, suppliers, and network partners as required is a key responsibility.
* Software upgrades across a range of network equipment are also a part of this role.
* Service documentation and accurate configuration records must be maintained.
* Decommissioning, upgrading, and managing hardware, including sparing and warranty returns, are important tasks.
* Attending data centers, remote sites, and customer premises for installs and replacements is a regular requirement.
* Commissioning, configuring, and testing new services, including switches, routers, and network devices, are critical responsibilities.
Required Skills & Qualifications
* A minimum of 2 years of experience in a network/telecommunications role within a commercial or carrier environment is necessary.
* A Diploma/Degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience) is required.
* Strong knowledge of Ethernet switching, IP routing, and transmission fundamentals is essential.
