The National Facilities Manager will deliver an optimised and cost‐effective environment, leveraging systems and technology to enhance the services, drive efficiency with a focus on safety, all day‐to‐day aspects relating to the management and maintenance of soft services, tenant and stakeholder management, and sustainability in enhancing the employee experience and culture for the amazing people at Optus.
What You'll Do
The role will be responsible for the delivery of Facilities Management services nationally, ensuring that our facilities meet operational requirements, comply with safety regulations, and contribute to overall business objectives, specifically, the role will:
* Deliver against the objectives of Optus' facilities management strategy, assisting the Associate Director Facilities in relation to 'hard' services (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic), whilst taking responsibility for delivery of 'soft' services including general maintenance, cleaning, landscaping, waste, pest control and alike
* Under the guidance of the Associate Director Facilities, drive the delivery of 'soft' facilities operations including developing operation plans, as well as short‐term goals and objectives
* Manage the day‐to‐day operations and maintenance of property facilities nationwide, ensuring optimal performance and uptime
* Oversee regular, preventative, and ad hoc maintenance of all Optus Facilities, including coordinating repairs and troubleshooting issues to minimise downtime and optimise functioning.
* Point of contact for tenants, addressing concerns, and ensuring tenant satisfaction, and communicating effectively with building owners, property managers, and other stakeholders
* Oversee relationships with third‐party vendors and contractors responsible for facility maintenance, repairs, and upgrades Onboarding and managing contractors, vendors, and service providers, service level agreements, and compliance with company standards
* Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to telecommunications facilities, and local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to building codes, safety standards, environmental regulations, and accessibility requirements
* Manage budgets for facility operations, maintenance, and capital expenditures without compromising network reliability
* Maintaining accurate records and prepare regular reports and presentations for leaders and stakeholders
* Implement and oversee sustainability initiatives related to energy efficiency, waste management, and environmental impact reduction across network facilities
What You'll Bring
* Strong sense of accountability and a commitment to delivering quality outcomes
* Proven experience in managing a team of facility professionals across multiple locations. This includes hiring, training, and supervising staff, as well as overseeing their performance and professional development.
* Experience negotiating contracts with vendors and service providers, overseeing procurement processes, and managing ongoing relationships to ensure quality of service and cost‐effectiveness
* Sound understanding of mechanical, electrical, and other technical systems relevant to the facilities under management
* Strong financial acumen to develop and manage budgets for facilities maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and operational expenses. Experience in cost control measures and optimizing expenditure is crucial
* In‐depth knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, environmental standards, and other compliance requirements applicable at the national level. Ensuring all facilities meet these standards and implementing necessary changes or upgrades.
* Experience in delivering emergency response plans for facilities under management, including coordinating responses to emergencies, ensuring business continuity, and minimizing downtime
* Familiarity with building management systems (BMS), energy management systems, and other technological solutions to optimise facility operations, improve efficiency, and reduce energy consumption.
* Effective communication skills to interact effectively with senior management, stakeholders, tenants, and regulatory authorities, including the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely
* Commitment to continuous improvement, ongoing learning and improvement in facilities management practices
* Data analysis and reporting related to facility performance, budget expenditures, energy usage, and other metrics to make informed decisions and drive improvements
