About us

Legal Aid NSW helps people with their legal problems. We can help people with most areas criminal law, family law and everyday civil law legal issues. We give legal advice, help at court and do family dispute resolution. We can do this over the telephone or at one of our 28 offices.

About the role

This role offers a unique chance to make a significant impact while working in a dynamic and community-focused environment. You will provide high-quality legal services to people who are navigating hardship and complex legal problems. You will also engage with your local communities and deliver legal education about peoples rights at work.

About you

You are an experienced and accomplished Solicitor in Employment & Discrimination law. Your determination to make a difference by representing disadvantaged communities will be at the heart of your work. Ensuring these communities receive the justice and support they deserve will be your primary mission. Your expertise and dedication will be instrumental in achieving the best outcomes for those we serve. Furthermore, your understanding of regional work and the unique challenges and opportunities it presents will be invaluable. You will engage proactively with the community, contributing to meaningful change and support for disadvantaged individuals.

The essential requirements for this role

  • Be admitted or be eligible for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW.
  • Be able to provide a current NSW Practising Certificate before you start work with us.
  • Be willing to do a Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check.
  • Hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies).
  • Live in NSW or willing to relocate to NSW.
  • Driver's Licence – this is an essential requirement for some roles within the Civil Law Division.
