Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate professional to join our team as a Youth Support Worker in Kununurra. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people and be part of a supportive and collaborative work environment.
This role involves working collaboratively with other staff members to create a safe and respectful home environment for young people, assisting them in taking responsibility and making healthy life choices. The primary function of this role is to facilitate activities and support young people in achieving their goals, developed through their strengths-based daily personalised program and bail conditions while in residential services.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum Certificate III in Community Services, Youth Work, AOD, or a similar qualification, or relevant experience (minimum 1 year in a similar role). They will also have experience delivering services (programs) to young people (group or one-on-one), and experience and/or willingness to work with young people exhibiting challenging behaviours.
The successful applicant will be required to transport young people to and from programs and appointments as required, and provide opportunities for healthy lifestyle and recreational activities. They will also be expected to engage in regular conversations with each young person and Coordinator regarding their progress and satisfaction with their activity plan.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support up to 4 young people in a residential service during shifts, helping them achieve their goals and bail conditions through pro-social activities.
* Facilitate the strengths-based personalised program for each young person, developed by the Coordinator.
* Engage in regular conversations with each young person and Coordinator regarding their progress and satisfaction with their activity plan.
* Provide opportunities for healthy lifestyle and recreational activities.
* Transport young people to and from programs and appointments as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will require:
* A minimum Certificate III in Community Services, Youth Work, AOD, or a similar qualification, or relevant experience (minimum 1 year in a similar role).
* Experience delivering services (programs) to young people (group or one-on-one).
* Experience and/or willingness to work with young people exhibiting challenging behaviours.
* Strong communication skills with young people and understanding of Aboriginal culture.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Client Management Systems for reporting and record-keeping.
* Strong problem-solving skills for managing difficult situations.
* Ability to prepare meals and maintain a clean and healthy environment.
