The Development Directive is seeking an experienced, energetic and reliable Senior or Principal Town Plannerto support its growing and dynamic business.
This opportunity suits an experienced town planner who is looking to broaden their experience across the full development cycle.
Working closely with Project Managers and fantastic clients, you will work on exciting and complex projects delivering quality development outcomes. The role offers genuine career progression, and while business development is seen as an opportunity, there is no expectation to bring your own client base to the role.
The Roles and Responsibilities will include:
Due diligence and pre-acquisition advice to the private sector.
Town planning applications and management.
Infrastructure charging advices and negotiation.
Act as an expert witness to the Queensland Planning & Environment Court and Land Court of Queensland (growth opportunity)
Resumption management and planning advice for the purpose of valuation and compensation.
Master-planned communities and large-scale commercial and industrial development.
Strategic and Statutory advices to Public Sector.
Run and manage client engagements.
Build and maintain key client contact and satisfaction; and
You will gain experience across various property sectors and junctions within the development process. As we work alongside our in-house project management team, you will get experience in project management and the ability to see a project through all stages, from inception through to completion.

Since the incorporation of The Development Directive in 2017, it has assisted in the delivery of over $1bn worth of completed and pipeline developments in Southeast Queensland and New South Wales.
We provide professional services to the development industry on a fee for service basis. We are a specialised, boutique firm who are dedicated to providing high quality, personal service to our client base. The Development Directive is made up of circa 20 staff and the team is led by an energetic director team who encourage an exciting and motivating office environment.

The building has ample car parking on and off site, and bus stops at its doorstep with shops nearby (within 50m of building). The office building has lots of character with an industrial fit out and greenery.
ABOUT YOU
If you would like to progress your career in an exciting, engaging and hands on environment, then this opportunity is for you. We encourage you to apply if you have:
Graduated from a relevant Town Planning degree.
Work experience (minimum 3+ years) involved in preparing development applications, writing of town planning reports and technical advices.
Experience in managing client files and all aspects of the development assessment process.
Proficient understanding of Queensland planning legislation framework (experience in New South Wales isencouraged but not required)
The ability to build rapport with clients, consultants and statutory authorities.
The ability to negotiate successful outcomes with statutory authorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong time management skills.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team and take on responsibility for a project and be client facing.
Have a currentopendriver's license.
It is beneficial if you have experience in urban design and/or ArcGIS, but this is not a requirement.
