Are you passionate about advancing scientific understanding and improving lives?
We are seeking a talented and motivated Level A Research-Only Academic to join the Jaffré Group, where we are at the forefront of researching congenital heart defects and cardiomyopathies in children with rare genetic disorders.
About Us: The Jaffré Group specialises in understanding the molecular mechanisms behind heart defects and cardiomyopathies using cutting-edge technologies such as human induced-pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs), CRISPR gene editing, 3D organoids, and engineered heart tissues.
Our goal is to uncover new therapeutic approaches for children with rare genetic conditions.
As a Level A Research-Only Academic, you will contribute to a dynamic and collaborative environment, working closely with the Principal Investigator and fellow researchers to drive exciting scientific projects forward.
This is an opportunity to work with groundbreaking research and make a real-world impact on the health of children affected by rare genetic disorders.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct independent research or as part of a team on projects related to stem cells, cardiogenesis, and cardiovascular biology Contribute to publications, conferences, and seminar papers showcasing your findings Use advanced laboratory and technical equipment to design and perform experiments Develop and refine new research techniques, contributing to the group's expertise Provide supervision to 1-2 staff members and offer research advice to postgraduate students Occasionally contribute to teaching activities related to your research project(s) Engage in departmental meetings, conferences, and professional development activities The Successful Candidate will have the following: A strong background in molecular biology, cardiology, stem cell biology, or related fields Experience in experimental design and working with complex laboratory techniques Experience in hiPSC culture and differentiation along with genome editing (CRISPR) technology in hiPSCs This position offers a unique chance to shape the future of paediatric cardiovascular medicine through pioneering research.
