The Biostatistics Unit provides expert biostatistical support to multi-disciplinary research initiatives at the Faculty of Health. The Clinical Trials Hub (DTH) aims to build regional clinical research capacity in collaboration with partners, healthcare professionals, pharmaceutical leaders, regulatory bodies, ethics and governance, vendors and other stakeholders.
Senior Research Fellow - Biostatistics
* Play a key role in strengthening the quality of multi-disciplinary research projects initiated by DTH affiliated academics and partner organisations, including clinical researchers.
* Provide expert biostatistical leadership in conceptualisation, design, and analysis plans for competitive grant applications.
* Lead the development of robust study designs, sample size calculations, and statistical methodologies to strengthen the scientific rigour of grant submissions.
* Contribute to seeking funding for research and creative activities, including external competitive funding and commercialization/translation funding opportunities.
* Prepare or contribute to the statistical components of grants, including analysis plans, methodological justifications, and feasibility statements.
To be successful, you'll have:
* PhD in biostatistics or statistics
* Nationally recognised research reputation in biostatistics with publications in quality journals
* Strong track record in clinical trials and public health research, including advanced statistical analyses of randomised trials and development of trial protocols and analysis plans
* Success in obtaining external research grants
* Record of supervision or co-supervision of PhD students
* Knowledge of modern statistical methods including Bayesian adaptive trial designs relevant to public health and clinical research
* Strong statistical programming skills in at least two of SAS, R, or STATA
Associate Professor, Biostatistics
* Play a key role in strengthening the quality of multi-disciplinary research projects initiated by DTH affiliated academics and partner organisations, including clinical researchers.
* Provide expert biostatistical leadership in conceptualisation, design, and analysis plans for competitive grant applications.
* Lead the development of robust study designs, sample size calculations, and statistical methodologies to strengthen the scientific rigour of grant submissions.
* Work collaboratively with academics to shape research questions, refine hypotheses, and align methodological choices with funding body requirements.
* Prepare or contribute to the statistical components of grants, including analysis plans, methodological justifications, and feasibility statements.
* Lead teams and pursue external funding opportunities for research and creative activities, including commercialization and translation funding and other sustained funding.
* Demonstrate sustained and expanding national and international reputation as leaders with impactful research and successful delivery for industry partners.
To be successful, you'll have:
* PhD in a relevant discipline
* Internationally recognised research reputation with publications in high-quality journals
* Strong track record in clinical trials and public health research, including advanced statistical analyses and development of trial protocols
* Success in obtaining and timely completion of competitive external grants
* Experience engaging with research, community, industry and government to enhance standing
* Demonstrated leadership in research and administration
* Evidence of original and influential contributions to research and supervision
