Teachers at Saint Stephens College are expected to be experts of their academic disciplines and well-informed classroom practitioners. High levels of enthusiasm and a genuine love of children underpin these expectations. The main focus is to continuously seek to maximise the learning outcomes for students through quality teaching training and coaching with an emphasis on intentional teaching and blended learning.


Successful candidates will be experienced in teaching:

* Visual Art with the ability to also teach year 7 to 9 Media and Design is desirable


The position

* 5 month contract full time
* Commencing Term One 2026 (Monday 19 January 2026)

General Duties

* Planning preparing and delivering quality and effective teaching and learning programs which are consistent with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and in keeping with the relevant syllabuses curriculum policies and work programs for the position / department they work in.
* Maintaining teaching competency and currency of knowledge of relevant curriculum programs.
* Interacting with students in a variety of settings and actively contributing to the development of inclusive learning environments while effectively implementing the Colleges Student Code of Conduct.
* Providing for the physical social cultural and emotional wellbeing and physical safety of students whilst at the College and enhancing their overall development towards effective citizenship and responsible adulthood through participation in a variety of curriculum-based and extra-curricular activities.
* Assessing students for developmental feedback and reporting purposes.
* Maintaining student records and reporting on student performance and engagement as well as on matters that may require further investigation and file keeping by internal departments or external agencies.
* Participating in the collaborative development and evaluation of curriculum and regularly monitoring the effectiveness of the learning / teaching program.
* Establishing and maintaining appropriate interpersonal relationships with students parents / carers whole families and community members.
* Liaising with parents / carers and at times external agencies and community members to support students achieve the expectations of the College and to uphold their own personal goals and positive contributions.
* Engaging in professional reflective learning opportunities such as coaching and team meetings.
* Participating as appropriate in College decision making processes and professional development.
* Participate and attend College functions events and activities as defined by the annual calendar and as required.


Knowledge and Skill Requirements

* Bachelor of Education or a degree / qualification with a Postgraduate Teaching Qualification
* Current Queensland College of Teachers Registration (or eligibility to apply)
* Excellent knowledge of curriculum of the relevant discipline
* A thorough understanding of the Australian Curriculum with proven effectiveness benchmarked against the AITSL Professional Standards for Teachers;
* Appropriate ICT skills and a preparedness to integrate ICT skills into the learning process through Blended Learning;
* Demonstrated experience understanding and competence in blended learning with the ability to differentiate teaching programs to enhance student learning in the classroom and beyond;
* Demonstrated ability to work with Online Learning Environments / Learning Management Systems to develop and deliver rich online course resources.
* A proactive and professional approach that demonstrates initiative flexibility and a high level of motivation emotional intelligence and reflection.


Other

* Carry out other duties as required by the Principal
* Demonstrate follow and support the policies and procedures of the College
* Maintain a degree of flexibility in working hours from time to time as required for the position
* Accept that the College reserves the right to modify the position to meet its operating needs
* Remain flexible proactive and adaptable in a dynamic education environment and willingly take on new tasks and responsibilities as the College student needs and stakeholder interests change over time
* Undertake other reasonable and relevant duties within skills knowledge and capabilities and as directed by the Principal or their representative
* Comply with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 codes of practice and other safety guidance material.
