We are currently recruiting on behalf of a government organisation seeking a Security Engineer with strong Palo Alto Networks expertise to support a large-scale, mission-critical environment. This position sits within an operational security team responsible for the ongoing support, monitoring and optimisation of enterprise security infrastructure.
This is a hands‐on engineering role suited to professionals who enjoy working in a technical operations environment, supporting and maintaining security platforms rather than focusing purely on architecture or project delivery.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the stability, security and availability of Palo Alto security platforms within a complex enterprise network.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide operational support and administration of Palo Alto Networks security platforms within a 24x7 enterprise environment
* Monitor, maintain and troubleshoot Palo Alto Next‐Generation Firewalls to ensure optimal performance and security
* Investigate and resolve firewall and network security related incidents and operational issues
* Implement and maintain firewall policies, rule changes and configuration updates in line with operational and security requirements
* Perform routine system health checks, patching and maintenance activities across security infrastructure
* Support incident response activities and assist with investigation of security alerts and events
* Work closely with network, infrastructure and security teams to maintain secure and stable operations
* Maintain documentation relating to configurations, operational procedures and troubleshooting activities
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes and security controls
Requirements
* Hands‐on experience supporting Palo Alto Networks Next‐Generation Firewalls within enterprise environments
* Palo Alto Networks certifications such as PCNSE (Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer) or PCNSA (Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator), or equivalent certifications from the newer Palo Alto certification framework such as Network Security Professional or Next‐Generation Firewall Engineer
* Strong experience troubleshooting firewall and network security platforms
* Experience working within a BAU or operational support environment
* Solid understanding of network security concepts including firewall policies, traffic inspection and threat prevention
* Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues
* Ability to work effectively within a fast‐paced operational team environment
* Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‐functional technical teams
* Ability to successfully pass government police vetting requirements
* Experience supporting security infrastructure within government or large enterprise environments
* Exposure to security monitoring, incident response or SOC environments
* Broad understanding of enterprise networking including routing and switching
