Metro Trains Sydney (MTS) is delivering Australia's first driverless metro railway – shaping the future of transport, customer experience and urban mobility. As we continue to grow and mature our operations, we are seeking an exceptional leader to step into the role of Head of People Partnering & Experience.

This is a pivotal opportunity for a seasoned People & Culture leader to influence organisational performance at scale, elevate employee experience and drive a culture where people thrive.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the General Manager, People & Culture and Corporate Affairs, you will lead the delivery of strategic people initiatives that lift capability, engagement, inclusion and wellbeing across the organisation. You will partner closely with senior leaders, unions, government agencies, and key rail industry stakeholders to shape a positive and high-performing culture aligned to MTS's values and organisational priorities.

As the Head of People Partnering & Experience, you will:

* Lead EBA negotiations with expertise, confidence and collaborative approach, driving mutually beneficial outcomes.
* Lead the People Partnering function and mentor a high performing People Partnering team.
* Embed a proactive and strategic partnering model that delivers measurable value to business units.
* Provide expert guidance to executives, managers and employee representatives.
* Drive complex IR/ER outcomes with confidence.
* Design and deliver initiatives that strengthen employee experience, wellbeing, inclusion, and organisational culture.
* Champion DEI across all people practices and workforce decisions.
* Lead dispute resolution, mediation, conciliation and represent MTS at the Fair Work Commission.
* Maintain strong relationships with unions and employee groups.
* Ensure consultation obligations under enterprise agreements and awards are met.
* Ensure compliance, governance and continuous improvement.
* Oversee the development and maintenance of IR/ER frameworks, policies and decision-making tools.
* Provide data-driven insights through workforce analytics to identify risks, trends and improvement opportunities.
* Support strong governance aligned to MTS, Sydney Metro Authority (SMA), TfNSW, ONRSR, and regulatory requirements.
* Lead organisational change and business partnering excellence.
* Influence senior leaders and partner with executive teams to shape future workforce capabilities.

About You

You are an experienced, influential People & Culture leader who thrives in dynamic and complex environments. You bring:

* Extensive demonstrated experience in leading EBA negotiations coupled with strong stakeholder management.
* Extensive demonstrated expertise in IR/ER negotiations, case management and risk-based decision-making.
* Senior people leader with People Partnering, Industrial Relations and Employee experience.
* A proven record of lifting culture, engagement, Diversity and Inclusion and well-being.
* Strong capability working in government, transport, regulated, or safety-critical environments (highly regarded).
* Exceptional communication, influencing and relationship-building strengths.
* Degree qualified in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, Industrial Relations, or a related discipline.
* A strategic mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.

You will be required to work across our two sites in Tallawong and North Sydney in this hybrid/flexible role, with 3 days onsite.
