Our established Sydney Natural Resources & Agriculture team are seeking Senior Ecologists, specialising in biodiversity impact assessment, management and offsetting. Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
1. Contributing to the delivery of biodiversity values and constraints assessments, impact and offset assessments and monitoring and management services related to project approvals and natural area management
2. Assisting ecology team members in the application of the NSW Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM)
3. Biodiversity impact assessment and offsetting for high profile major projects and preparation of Biodiversity Stewardship Agreements
4. Provision of advice and direction regarding relevant regulatory frameworks and project approval pathways
5. Leading the delivery of proposals and technical reports for clients
6. Managing and delivering projects on time and within budget and to required quality standards
7. Maintaining relationships with clients and regulatory agencies
8. Assisting in mentoring and training of junior staff
What you will bring to the team:
9. Experience in biodiversity impact assessment and offsetting
10. Accreditation to apply the NSW Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) – or working towards accreditation
11. Demonstrated skills in the development and delivery of effective ecological assessment, monitoring, evaluation and reporting
12. Demonstrated experience in botanical survey and vegetation management and experience in the application of the BAM
13. Demonstrated skills in flora and fauna species identification, plant community type mapping and threatened ecological community identification
14. Knowledge of NSW and Commonwealth regulatory frameworks and policy with respect to listed threatened matters, biodiversity assessment, offsetting and management
15. Knowledge of ecological communities across various environments in NSW
16. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
17. Well-developed interpersonal skills: a team player who builds rapport with both internal & external stakeholders communicates and is able to provide technical review and guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members
18. Tertiary qualifications in botany, ecology or related discipline
