About the project
We operate the Adelaide Living Beaches Sand Transfer Infrastructure, a critical coastal protection system that keeps Adelaide's beaches healthy and accessible. This is long‐term, meaningful infrastructure work in a high‐visibility public environment.
* Sand transfer and beach replenishment along metropolitan coastline.
* Operation of excavators, tractors, and pumping systems.
* Working in live public areas where safety and presentation matter.
About the role
As a Plant & Maintenance Operator, you will work in a small, close‐knit team delivering both operations and maintenance activities across the site. This is a hands‐on role – you'll be operating machinery, supporting sand transfer operations, and stepping in to assist with labouring and maintenance tasks as needed. Initially offered as a 12‐month fixed‐term contract, long‐term opportunities will exist for high performers, including genuine pathways into supervisory roles as the project continues to evolve.
Key responsibilities
* Loading sand into feed hopper using a 36T excavator, including stockpile replenishment while feeding.
* Harvesting sand from open public beach with 700HP tractor landsale and stockpiling material inside the beach compound.
* Operating a 5T excavator at the slurry discharge location to prevent dune escarpment and/or damage to local vegetation.
* Support sand pumping, dredging, and transfer operations.
* Undertake off‐season maintenance tasks including inspections, tear‐downs, rebuilds, sanding, painting and equipment upkeep.
Don't tick all the boxes? If you have relevant experience and a strong work ethic, we encourage you to apply. You may be a great fit for this role or others within the company.
What will you bring?
* Strong excavator experience (final trim highly regarded).
* Current Heavy Rigid (HR) licence.
* Background in civil, bulk earthworks, final trim experience, and time‐sensitive production experience is essential.
* Willingness to be hands‐on and support the team off the machine.
What's in it for you?
* Be home every night – no FIFO or camp work.
* Monday to Friday schedule.
* Unique opportunity to work on Adelaide's beaches.
* Small, supportive team environment.
* Long‐term role with development opportunities.
All successful applicants must hold valid work rights for Australia and pass a satisfactory pre‐employment medical, including drug and alcohol checks. We actively celebrate diversity and inclusion and encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply.
