Lead material handler responsible for the safe & accurate transportation of material within and around the warehouse facility; Assists and oversees the safe receipt, storage, retrieval and timely dispatch of orders; Assists in maintaining workplace OH&S and an efficient warehouse & packing space.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Other duties may be assigned on an adhoc basis
INBOUND / OUTBOUND / DAY TO DAY
* Works with the Warehouse Manager to ensure timely dispatch of orders
* Lead storeman for assisting in handloading orders for pick ups
* Lead forklift driver for safe storage & movement of palletised material
* Lead crane operator for handling natural stone slabs and porcelain panels using safety protocols
* Unpacks containers both palletised and stone slabs using safety protocol & in a timely manner
* Understands and learns about new products to ensure the correct items are packed and dispatched to customers
* Responsible for ensuring accuracy of picks
* Assist the team by maintaining and keeping the Warehouse Schedule up to date
* Responsible for receiving returns & advising the Storeperson so the returns can be administered on the system
* Assists in operating the crane for slab viewings
STOCK MANAGEMENT
* Assists with regular stock checks, monthly cycle counts and annual stocktake.
* Maintains physical stock in an orderly manner in the racking as per defined by the warehouse layout plan
* Proactively re-stacks pallets to maximise pallet rack usage
* Reports any breakages immediately so that it can be accessed and adjustments made on the system
MAINTENANCE
* Maintains an efficient warehouse & packing space
* Maintains OH&S and a clean workspace
* Reports any faults or issues with material handling equipment to the Manager
* Reports any faults or issues with racking system, floors, roller doors, etc to the Manager
WAREHOUSE SUPPLIES
* Responsible for alerting the Warehouse Manager in maintaining stock levels of essential supplies e.g forklift gas bottles, pallet strapping, shrink wrap, packing tape etc.
* Responsible for maintaining the bins & emptying them as required
ADMIN / COMMUNICATION
* Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
* Ensures a safe working environment for staff and that all state and federal legislation covering workplace safety is complied with.
* Teaches new staff members in the warehouse how to operate the crane and forklift using safety protocol
