About the Business Unit Emergency Management, within the Department of Justice and Community Safety (the Department) works closely with government and agencies across the emergency management portfolio. The group is led by the Deputy Secretary, Emergency Management. Emergency Management includes the department's emergency management accountabilities and statutory entities and offices. Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) leads emergency management in Victoria by working with government, agencies and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies. EMV is a statutory entity and is part of the Department. The Department, through the Secretary, employs EMV staff and provides corporate functions to EMV. EMV is led jointly by the Chief Executive (CE) and the Emergency Management Commissioner (EMC). The purpose of the Operations directorate is to lead the emergency operational coordination and state operations in Victoria by working with communities, volunteers, government, agencies and business to strengthen their capacity to withstand, plan for, respond to and recover from emergencies. About the Role The Project Officer role is part of the Marine Search & Rescue (MSAR) team which supports the agencies, volunteers and units that deliver MSAR services in Victoria. The incumbent is expected to support the MSAR office in delivering its range of programs and initiatives to the volunteer MSAR sector. This role is based in Melbourne and requires out of business hours work and travel across the state to meet the needs of the Volunteer MSAR sector.
