**Venus Repair Workshop - Seamstress/Tailor**
We are a small business with big ambitions located in the heart of Sydney.
We offer a repair and alterations service for a number of different clothing and apparel items including premium fashion brands for both consumers and retailers.
We are in favour of sustainability by extending the lives of quality items.
**Position responsibilities**:
Sewing repairs
- Operating various sewing machines (industrial and/or domestic)
- Performing alterations and repairs on clothing
- Working with different fabrics and materials
- Ensuring quality control and attention to detail
- Liaising with colleagues regarding individual garment specifications
- Preparing goods for repair ie. pulling together consumables, unpicking seams etc.
Customer service
You will be expected to be able to offer excellent customer service
- Liaising with customers and taking orders, discussing types of repair required
- Quality control
- Packaging of items and arranging postage when necessary
Non sewing repairs
- Seam repairs
- Leather restoration work — cleaning, conditioning
Other general responsibilities
- Keeping the workshop clean, tidy and organised
Somebody who
- Is able to sew and is prepared to be trained and develop skills
- Has knowledge of garment construction, is able to understand different sewing techniques and construction methods
- Has proficient English skills to communicate effectively with both customers and staff
- Is able to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines
- Who has a passion for resourcefulness and a readiness to achieve the best possible results for our customers
- Is able to work as part of a tight-knit team but also able to work independently
- Has experience with garment alterations and repairs
- Has a keen eye for detail
- Is able to work with varying degrees of speed, depending on the type of repair being performed.
- Holds permanent rights to work in Australia
- Bonus - has experience working with leather goods

**Job Type**: Casual
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 6.5 - 32.5 per week
**Experience**:
- Sewing/Alteration: 1 year (preferred)
