Projects NSW is responsible for delivering some of the State's most complex and high‐profile construction projects. From cultural institutions to major precincts and public assets, the work shapes how communities live, connect and thrive.
An experienced Project Manager is sought to lead the delivery of major construction projects from planning through to completion. This role offers the chance to work at scale, take real ownership of delivery, and contribute to projects with lasting public value.
The opportunity
This is a hands‐on project leadership role for someone who enjoys complexity, accountability and seeing things through. The Senior Development Manager is responsible for guiding projects through approvals, procurement and construction, keeping delivery moving while balancing safety, quality, cost, risk and stakeholder expectations.
Working with a high degree of autonomy within established governance, the role partners closely with senior executives, client agencies and delivery partners. The focus is on sound judgement, clear decision making and steady delivery momentum, even when projects are challenging or fast moving.
This role suits someone who is comfortable in the detail, confident managing interfaces, and able to step back and keep sight of the bigger picture and the outcomes the project is there to deliver.

What success looks like
Success in this role comes from leading construction delivery with confidence and care, ensuring projects are well planned, well governed and well communicated. It involves building strong relationships with consultants and contractors, managing construction risk thoughtfully, and providing clear, practical advice that supports timely and informed decisions.
The role requires experience managing complex construction projects in a senior project management capacity, ideally across large‐scale infrastructure, vertical build or precinct style developments. A strong understanding of construction methodology, sequencing and risk management is essential, along with the ability to operate effectively within structured governance and approval environments.
Clear communication underpins success, particularly the ability to translate complex construction issues for senior executives, client agencies and community stakeholders. Relevant qualifications in project management, construction, engineering or a related field will be well regarded, alongside significant equivalent industry experience.
