The Role
We're looking for a detail-oriented Assistant Accountant and Payroll Officer to own the end‑to‑end payroll function and assist in delivering core accounting support across AR, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, and month‑end journals. This role ensures employees are paid accurately and on time, while maintaining clean ledgers and supporting timely month‑end close and compliance. This is a full-time role (5 days per week).

You'll work closely with our People & Culture and Finance teams to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time, with all statutory obligations met.
Core Activities
Work with the finance team on a day-to-day basis to produce clean financial records.
Process key financial tasks (e.g. bank reconciliation, AR processing and collection).
Produce weekly reports to key stakeholders across the business on performance and key metrics.
Process end-to-end payroll for all employees using Employment Innovations (Employment Hero).
Maintain employee records and ensure accurate data entry for new hires, terminations, and employment changes.
Review and interpret relevant Awards, the National Employment Standards (NES), and company policies to ensure compliance.
Manage superannuation, PAYG, and other statutory deductions.
Prepare and lodge reconciliation reports.
Reconcile payroll-related accounts and assist with month-end reporting.
Respond promptly to payroll-related queries from employees.
Liaise with Employment Innovations' advisory team as required to ensure compliance and resolve complex queries.
Complete annual processes such as salary reviews, EOFY reconciliations, and audit preparation.

Experience and Skills Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting/business (or equivalent) preferred.
Experience in end-to-end payroll processing (minimum 1–2 years) preferred.
Hands-on experience with Employment Hero / Employment Innovations (highly desirable).
Excellent and in-depth understanding of Australian payroll legislation, superannuation, tax, and NES.
High attention to detail with strong numerical and reconciliation skills.
Excellent communication and confidentiality.
Have a strong numerical ability, coupled with excellent data entry skills; and
Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.
