This is an identified position for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Person
Full Time Cadetships available / Kick-start your career while you study
Salary: $50,938 - $65,804 gross p.a. plus 12% Super
35 hours per week (Monday to Friday) with the option of flexitime plus paid study leave
In accordance with Shoalhaven City Council's Study Leave Procedure
Located at Nowra Administration Building, Bridge Road Nowra

About The Role

Support the delivery of initiatives that strengthen inclusion, cultural connection, and community wellbeing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the Shoalhaven, working alongside community leaders, organisations, and Council's Vibrant Communities Team. This includes:

Support culturally respectful engagement by learning about local cultural protocols and assisting teams to connect with appropriate cultural advice.
Help strengthen relationships between Aboriginal community members and Council's Vibrant Communities team through respectful communication and participation in community interactions
Contribute to the planning, coordination, and delivery of culturally significant community events, such as NAIDOC Week, under supervision.

About You

To be successful in the position, you will have:

Eligibility to enrol or current enrolment in a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in one of the following disciplines, Social Science, Welfare, Community Development/Community Services, Social Work, Aboriginal Studies, Social Planning/Regional Planning or other related fields.
Class C Driver's License.
This position is a designated Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander position - Confirmation of Identity - Verification for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people must be sighted / provided.
Proof of right to work in Australia

We are seeking someone who is community focused, culturally aware, and passionate about supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. They will be a respectful collaborator who listens, builds trust, and contributes positively to culturally driven initiatives and community wellbeing.

This position requires a current NSW Working with Children Check. Applicants are required to apply and pay for this check if not already obtained.
