Job Overview
The Senior Plant Biosecurity position is a critical role in supporting the goals and objectives of the Plant Health program.
This role contributes to planning, delivery, review, and reporting of plant health programs and activities, ensuring compliance with national market access and quarantine requirements.
The successful candidate will have expertise in regulatory activities and obligations associated with plant and plant product market access functions.
* Undertake projects to ensure compliance with legislative requirements, including coordination and conduct of audits and inspections.
* Verify and issue plant health certifications to meet legislative requirements and provide advice relating to market access.
* Contribute to regular review and improvement of policies, standards, and processes associated with the Plant Health Act, and other regulatory standards.
Additional responsibilities include performing key deliverables, managing priorities, and meeting deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality in work outputs.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge and experience in plant biosecurity regulations, policies, and practices.
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as biology, environmental science, or agriculture is required, along with several years of relevant experience.
Proficiency in MS Office and ability to learn new software applications quickly are essential for this role.
Additionally, excellent written and verbal communication skills, analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and time management skills are necessary for success in this position.
