OverviewOur member is looking for enthusiastic individuals who are keen to start their career in racing as a Cadet Steward.
The Cadet Steward role is focused on learning all aspects of the Stewards Panel function, particularly race day operational activities.
The Stewards Panel is key in upholding the integrity of the industry through ensuring transparent and fair conduct of racing.
Stewards are responsible for race meetings being conducted in accordance with the Rules of Racing and the organisation policies and guidelines for participants.
In this position you may assist with investigating incidents and potential breaches of the Rules of Racing.
This includes assisting with inquiries conducted by the Victorian Racing Tribunal (VRT) and at appeals to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).
This hands-on role involves travel across Victoria racing tracks, working a flexible schedule including day, afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts.
Key responsibilitiesComplete activities as required by the race meeting Chair, including overseeing/performing kenneling procedures, and assisting with processing late scratchings.Assist with investigating race day incidents.Assist with racing administrative queries including grading, registrations, member services tasks.Assist in preparing reports and providing evidence to VRT enquiries and VCAT appeals.Attend, as required, to participate at properties in Victoria for official duties, such as swab irregularity notifications, out of competition testing and property inspections.Undertake any other reasonable tasks as directed by the Steward Panel Leadership Team.
About youStrong appreciation of rules and regulations and an affinity for compliance.Current Victorian driver\'s license.Current certification in providing first aid including CPR, desirable.Preferably progressing to a relevant tertiary qualification.Ability to maintain professional independence under pressure.Proven team player across organisational lines.Strong organisational, time management and prioritisation skills.Professional written and oral communication skills, with report writing capability.Ability to work effectively with stakeholders.Sound MS Office skills - email, Word,Attention to detail with advanced organisational, time management and prioritisation.
Key to your success is your passion for working with and through others combined with a knack for compliance, a willingness to learn, an unrestricted driver licence, and demonstrated skills using contemporary work-related technology such as Microsoft Office.
