Finance Officer – Accounts Receivable (Temporary Contract)
Location: Western Suburbs, Melbourne
Contract: 23 Feb 2026 – 22 Apr 2026
Hours: Full-time, 38 hrs/week
Rate: $44.59 per hour + super
We are seeking an experienced Finance Officer (Accounts Receivable) to support a government organisation with the accurate and timely management of billing, invoicing, and debt collection processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain financial billing systems, ensuring accurate production of notices, invoices, and statements
* Process agency payment files, direct debits, and daily transactions
* Monitor debtor accounts, payment arrangements, and outstanding amounts
* Liaise with internal teams and external agencies regarding debt recovery
* Provide high-quality customer service for billing enquiries
* Assist with reconciliations, banking, reporting, and general finance support
* Contribute to process improvements and best practice initiatives
About You
* Experience in accounts receivable, billing, or financial administration
* Strong understanding of billing controls and debt collection procedures
* Confident using billing systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
* Excellent communication and customer service skills
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
* Previous local government experience is desirable
