We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent full time Water Wastewater Engineer to join the Water Service Delivery Branch within the Council.
Logan Water is seeking a forward-thinking Water/Wastewater Engineer to drive innovation and optimise our water and wastewater network and treatment facilities. In this dynamic role, you will lead process improvement initiatives, harness smart technologies, and collaborate across teams to ensure our operations are efficient, compliant, and climate resilient. Position responsibilities include:
- Provide professional engineering services for the water and wastewater network and treatment facilities and to provide professional engineering services to assist Logan Water meet the regulatory and LCC requirements.
- With a process improvement mindset and collaborative approach, focus will be to optimise and manage emerging trends efficiently through innovation and support Logan Water to be climate change ready.
- Focuses on smart operating technology and data analytics to enable optimised, efficient, and commercially sustainable network and asset performance
- Working collaboratively with staff across the Water Service Delivery Stream, particularly building the bridge between the frontline staff and specialist contract engineers.
- Lead the development and implementation of optimised targeted set-points through establishment of process control monitoring philosophies, such as HACCP.
- Provide technical advice and process engineering expertise to support the effective and efficient operation of Council's water and wastewater network and treatment plants
- Address arising engineering challenges and complex customer enquiries
Key indicators for success:
- Qualifications: Tertiary degree in Process, Environmental, Civil Engineering or related discipline. Postgraduate qualifications in any one of the specialist engineering, management, environmental or science functions would be highly regarded. RPEQ registration required for Level 8.
- Experience: Proven expertise in water andwastewater treatment network including treatment processes, plant design, performance analysis, and regulatory compliance.
- Technical Skills: Demonstrated competence in the use of software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerBI and process modelling software. Skills in the use of wastewater treatment modelling applications would be advantageous.
- Innovation & Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead process optimisation projects, implement new technologies, and coach frontline staff.
- Communication: Robust written and verbal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and engage stakeholders.
- Licences & Certifications: Current \"C\" class driver's licence, General Safety Induction (Construction Industry) ticket, and required vaccinations (Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Tetanus, Q Fever).
- Availability: Willingness to participate in after-hours operations and on-call roster.
- Compliance: Ability to provide satisfactory results for all employment related background checks.
