Overview
Community Mental Health Clinician - Young in Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD), Community Mental Health Service - Young. The role delivers holistic, person-centred and trauma-informed care to children and adolescents with complex mental health needs and their families and carers. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan and deliver comprehensive mental health care to the regional community of Young and surrounds.
Responsibilities
The focus is on Children and Adolescents with acute, complex or high needs who require a specialist mental health approach. Identified outcomes include:
Successful therapeutic engagement with children and adolescents experiencing or at risk of developing severe mental illness.
Better experience of care through integrated and coordinated service models.
Prevention of unnecessary hospitalisations through timely access to appropriate and targeted clinical care.
Active use of a multiagency care plan for the child or young person with, or at risk of, severe and complex mental illness, to help link providers across multiple services involved in a young person\'s care.
Improved support for families and carers of children and adolescents experiencing severe mental illness.
What you'll be doing also supports priority populations, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities, culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, LGBTIQ+ communities, and those facing social or economic disadvantage or risk of hospitalisation.

About NSW Health and team
The Young CMHAOD team has ~10 multidisciplinary clinicians and support staff, providing MH AOD services across the lifespan. The team is collocated with Young Health Service and works with Medicare Mental Health and other community organisations to ensure appropriate care. At district level, access to clinical leaders for MH, AOD and other specialty services is available.

Qualification as per classification listed in position description
Membership of the peak body professional association for Social Workers or Occupational Therapists, Nurses AHPRA
NSW Working with Children clearance
