Job Description
The Finance Manager is a key strategic role within the firm, responsible for providing financial leadership, data-driven insights, and analytical support to optimize business performance. This role works closely with the COO, Directors, leadership, and operational teams to drive financial efficiency, improve profitability, and enhance decision-making through robust financial analysis and reporting.
Job Requirements
* 8 years' experience in a Financial/Management Accounting role in a professional services firm including overseeing payroll.
* Demonstrated team leadership experience driving a high-performance culture
* Proven experience working with C-Suite level Directors, proactively providing insights and acting as a trusted advisor to improve the firm's financial outcomes
* Extensive operational management experience business advisory function
* Exceptional commercial acumen and the ability to model and analyse data to identify opportunities to improve profitability and provide meaningful insights to stakeholders across the firm.
* Deep knowledge of and exposure to a range of technical accounting and tax issues.
* Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) or similar undergraduate degree.
* Professional certification – Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) or equivalent.
* Evidence of continuous personal and professional development, including maintaining the required CPD hours.
Job Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Reporting:
* Develop and maintain financial models, dashboards, and reports to provide visibility into firm performance, profitability, and key financial metrics.
* Proactively manage cashflow and fixed asset reporting to ensure firm sustainability
Data-Driven Insights:
* Leverage financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, supporting data-backed decision-making across the firm.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
* Lead the annual budgeting process, periodic reforecasting, and variance analysis to ensure financial stability and operational efficiency.
Operational Management:
* Analyse costs, resource allocation, and operational expenses to drive cost efficiencies and improve profitability.
* Manage debt recovery and collections.
* Preparation of hire-purchases, leases and commercial bills.
* Ensuring firm and Partner Tax Agent registrations are renewed and current as required.
* Responsible for ensuring the firm insurance policies are renewed on an annual basis and are current.
Strategic Business Partnering:
* Work closely with Directors and Managers to provide financial insights and recommendations that support growth initiatives, pricing strategies, and client profitability analysis.
* Assist/deliver special projects e.g. system evaluations, new firm DD and modelling for new service lines.
Performance Metrics & KPIs:
* Develop, track, and report on key operational and financial KPIs, providing actionable insights for leadership.
Process Improvement:
* Identify and implement best practices for financial planning, reporting, and operational efficiency within the firm.
Risk Management & Compliance:
* Ensure adherence to statutory law, financial regulations, internal policies, and risk management frameworks.
* Maintain control of the Trust Account including annual audit
Team Leadership:
* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals, fostering a high-performance culture to deliver:
* GST, Tax returns, FBT and BAS
* GL, P&L and Balance sheet reporting
* Payroll
* AR/AP
Payroll Oversight:
* Oversee the payroll function, ensuring accuracy, compliance with regulatory requirements, and timely processing.
* Managesalary packaging for the firm
