Are you looking to kick‑start your career? Obtain a nationally recognised qualification and valuable experience in painting with an apprenticeship at Lake Macquarie City Council!
Role and Responsibilities
- Earn while you learn – get paid while you study a Certificate III – Painting and Decorating Trade
- Gain valuable skills while being mentored by highly skilled professionals
- Develop practical knowledge in painting and decorating, including surface preparation, patching, and tool maintenance
- Work alongside experienced tradespeople, gaining a deep understanding of the trade in a team‑based environment
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders, representing Lake Macquarie City Council professionally
- Follow all Work Health and Safety (WHS) guidelines and responsibilities
Qualifications
- Have a minimum of Year 10 High School Certificate (or finishing Year 10 this year)
- Are interested in painting and furthering their career
- Are committed to completing the training course requirements over 4 years
- Enjoy working in a team
- Have a good attention to detail and keep their work area clean and tidy
- Hold a minimum of a provisional driver’s licence
- Have exceptional customer service skills
- Candidates who have completed a Cert III Painting qualification or higher may not be eligible to apply.
What We Offer
- Wage while studying towards a qualification, from $611.50 per week (if 16 years of age) to $841.02 (18+ years of age), plus 12 % superannuation
- Payment of all course fees
- Paid time to study and attend compulsory classes
- Adverse working conditions allowance $0.51 per hour
- Yearly pay increases
- 38‑hour working week with nine‑day fortnight
- Four weeks paid annual leave
- Mentoring and support from a team of qualified tradespeople in a collaborative work workplace
