* The Edible Forest located at the Yarra Valley Estate is looking for a head gardener with good horticultural knowledge that is excited to manage the Edible Forest and the Estate gardens. This dynamic company is setting the benchmark for holding conference, retreats, wedding and other major events in a sustainable and community supportive way. The Edible Forest is a large part of the Yarra Valley Estate and has a sustainable approach to gardening and produce growth. The Edible Forest provides tours & education to the public while operating a small nursery which enhances the tour experience. The Edible Forest is a one-acre space where permaculture principles are used in the design of a garden which consists of a combination of indigenous, native and culinary plants.
Preferred Qualifications
* Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent).
* Degree or Diploma in Horticulture, Landscape management or Botany.
Knowledge
* Minimum 3 years of experience in the horticulture industry preferred.
* Understanding of permaculture would be an advantage
* Hands on knowledge of plants, plant identification and care of trees, scrubs, perennials & edibles
* soil health
* seasonal planting cycles for the vegetable gardens
