Primary objective

The Director Client Services Programs is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight over a number of key programs

including school counselling services, senior psychology services and universal wellbeing projects across the Northern Territory. This role

is accountable for the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, culturally appropriate services, ensuring alignment with departmental goals

and priorities. The Director will lead a team to promote student wellbeing, inclusion, and educational outcomes, while managing complex

cases and supporting multidisciplinary service integration.

Context statement

Student Wellbeing and Inclusion Programs and Services (SWIPS) is part of Inclusion and Engagement Services, which provides

differentiated support services to reform inclusion and improve engagement and access to learning for children, students and communities.

SWIPS provides advice, guidance and support to clients and stakeholders to ensure all children and students are welcomed into an inclusive

learning environment and are able to engage effectively with education and learn to their full potential.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide strategic leadership and manage a number of key Client Services programs across the Northern Territory, fostering

professional capability, practice excellence, and adherence to best practice frameworks

2. Develop data-driven strategies to assess and evaluate service effectiveness and identify areas for targeted support, using insights to

inform decision-making and resource allocation, particularly during service transitions

3. Foster strong relationships with schools, internal and external stakeholders to ensure a coordinated approach to service delivery that

is responsive to the unique needs of each school community and promoting collaborative efforts to support the wellbeing and

educational outcomes of students

1. Collaborate with the Director Client Services and Director Professional Practice and Intake, to ensure evidence-based, best practice

and consistent service delivery standards are achieved across all regions

1. Promote a positive workplace culture that encourages excellence, collaboration, resilience and teamwork especially during periods of

operational change.

1. Provide expert guidance to staff and schools to address and respond to a broad range of client needs and issues particularly in

response to sensitive and complex casework and critical incidents.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Extensive working knowledge of current student wellbeing and inclusion practices and evidence based interventions to inform

professional practice standards, as well as to support team members, educators and families.

2. Demonstrated ability to monitor and analyse data to provide quality reporting and insights, improve service delivery, processes

and programs to address identified needs in wellbeing and inclusion.

1. Proven ability to lead and manage a team in the delivery of preventative, targeted and individual practices, including complex case

management, service delivery and crisis management

1. Demonstrated knowledge of strategic leadership in complex service delivery settings, including implementing change management

processes to improve culturally appropriate services, service quality and outcomes.

5. Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to establish and sustain productive working

relationships with key stakeholders and confidently convey complex information to diverse audiences

Desirable

1. Recognised tertiary qualification in allied health, education or related field.

2. Knowledge of relevant Northern Territory and Commonwealth legislation relating to inclusive education and student wellbeing

3. Experience working in an educational setting and/or with children and young people

1. An approved social work qualification that meets eligibility requirements with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or

qualifications as a registered psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.

2. Extensive working knowledge of current student wellbeing and inclusion practices and evidence-based interventions to inform

professional practice standards as well as to support team members, educators and families.

3. Demonstrated ability to monitor and analyse data to provide quality reporting and insights, improve service delivery, processes

and programs to address identified needs in wellbeing and inclusion.
