Job Title: Senior Network Engineer - IP Core
Location: Macquarie Park (3 days onsite per week, hybrid)
Contract: 9 months (with potential extension)
Start: Immediate
About the role We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer with strong expertise in IP Core Networks to join a growing team. You\'ll be responsible for the design, implementation, and support of core network solutions, working alongside a small team of engineers and a manager. Due to project requirements and service-level agreements, some after-hours work will be required.
This role will focus on augmenting the existing team to help manage a heavy backlog of work and ensure smooth delivery of business-as-usual (BAU) network changes and design activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and implement IP-based network solutions.
* Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, and data center fabrics.
* Lead and support firewall and private cloud network design.
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex core network issues.
* Maintain templates, documentation, and standard operating procedures.
* Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize systems.
* Conduct upgrades, patching, and regular maintenance.
* Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to meet operational requirements.
Your Profile
* 10+ years\' experience as a Network Engineer at a senior level.
* Strong expertise in Cisco and Ericsson technologies (Nokia knowledge beneficial).
* In-depth understanding of IP protocols, network architecture, and network security.
* Hands-on experience with data center fabrics, including ACI and EVPN-VXLAN.
* Solid troubleshooting and implementation skills.
* Relevant industry certifications (CCNP/CCIE highly regarded).
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
