We are seeking an experienced Organic Farm Supervisor to oversee our Organic Farm Operations at Wemen site. This role involves supervising farmland conditions, planting and harvesting crops, managing irrigation, and leading a team to ensure the highest quality produce.
Key Responsibilities:
* Identifying and reporting unusual signs of plant diseases or pests to maintain crop health.
* Assisting in general cultivation and ground preparation activities.
* Conduct fertilizer applications and bed-forming tasks to promote optimal plant growth.
* Overseeing the planting and sowing processes to ensure successful crop establishment.
* Performing crop spraying activities in accordance with safety and quality standards.
* Managing daily irrigation programs and maintenance to ensure adequate water supply.
* Supervising the harvesting crew to ensure compliance with quality standards.
* Supervising daily operations of the Organic Farm, ensuring effective organization and optimal use of staff and resources.
* Operating machinery for planting, spraying, and harvesting while adhering to safety and quality standards.
* Monitoring irrigation processes to optimise crop performance and raise concerns with management as needed.
* Collaborating with the Wemen Farm Manager to maintain seed stock levels and ensure fresh produce quality.
* Train and monitor operators to ensure adherence to standard procedures for all tasks.
* Liaising effectively with the Farm Operation Manager, Agronomist, Maintenance Manager, and Wemen Farm Manager as required.
* Ensuring compliance with Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety, and employment legislation.
* Providing leadership and support to Organic Farm employees, fostering skill development and enhancing team performance.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Tertiary studies in agriculture, agronomy, or leadership preferred, otherwise extensive demonstrable experience in similar position.
* Solid experience in a supervisory role on an Organic Farm.
* Proven experience in supervising staff in a fresh produce environment.
* Experience in supervising organic farm operations.
* 4 to 5 years experience in fresh produce industry.
* Tractor driving experience.
* Chem certificate Training
* Driver Licence.
