**About the team**
Sydney Metro is leading Australia's biggest public transport infrastructure program, developing and delivering a new world-class metro railway system for Sydney. As a new NSW Government statutory authority, Sydney Metro has been tasked with developing and delivering metro railways and managing their operations.
Sydney Metro also leads the development of vibrant station precincts to meet customer and community needs, transforming the way Sydney travels and helping shape the future of Australia's largest city.
**The opportunity**
The role manages the surveillance and verification regime to provide the organisation with due diligence in relation to manufacturing and construction activities across the program. The role collaborates with Engineering Design Solutions teams and external delivery and contract partners to coordinate and plan surveillance activities in accordance with relevant surveillance management and verification plan requirements.
It provides mentoring and support to all members of the surveillance team and provides clear professional career development pathways and progression within the team or wider organisation.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Model good leadership to inspire direction and delivery, develop people, and drive change
- Live the NSW Public Sector and organisational values to achieve outstanding outcomes for the organisation and customers
- Manage Surveillance and Verification Plans for the organisation, preparing and undertaking regular reviews and updates to ensure best practice in surveillance management
- Produce regular Look Ahead and end of month reporting, updates and dashboards and ensure collation and distribution to relevant stakeholders to inform decision-making and to maintain auditability and traceability of works and activities of teams
- Manage a team of Surveillance Officers including work allocation, performance, possession working and ensure all team members maintain construction and rail industry competence in accordance with safety and rail safety legislation
- Oversee the appropriate collation of all surveillance reports, filing and the effective production of formal correspondence from document systems to ensure best practice in records management
- Establish relevant quality and audit working groups and manage the agenda and attendees to ensure all relevant stakeholders are notified of trending issues, and the appropriate resolution of any issue or risk
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders through weekly meetings across all Implementation
- Groups ensure the coordination of Surveillance Officer input for escalation to Senior Management and Delivery Partners.
- Managing all site surveillance activities on complex projects while managing and minimising conflicts that may arise between the various stakeholders to enable client requirements to be me met and the project to be carried out in an effective and timely manner.
- Ensuring contract documentation is accurate and conforms to Sydney Metro requirements in relation to safety and client requirements.
- The role operates with a high level of autonomy in determining day to day work priorities within the context of an agreed work plan and in making associated decisions. Decisions on complex issues or those with political ramifications are referred to a higher level of authority
**About you**
- Demonstrated experience leading a team in the construction and maintenance industry
- Extensive experience with technologies, practices and processes of civil construction and maintenance works in a highly specialised field relevant to Agency works.
- Extensive experience in best-practice record keeping and document management in a construction or maintenance environment.
- Advanced trade qualifications in a highly specialised field relevant to Agency works, or equivalent relevant experience.
**Salary and benefits**
The salary for this position is Grade 9 ($142,178 to 159,238) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
