The Opportunity
We’re seeking a qualified (Minimum Proficient to Advanced) Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner to deliver life-changing services across our regional hubs including Geraldton, Albany, Bunbury, Broome, Kununurra, Port Hedland and Esperance.
This role offers the unique opportunity to work with complex clients (average complexity score 9/10) while enjoying our sector-leading support model with YesAbility.
What You'll Do
- Conduct comprehensive PBS assessments and develop evidence-based behaviour support plans
- Deliver therapy services to clients with intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, mental illness, brain injury, and trauma
- Provide 120-150 hours of annual support per client through individualized therapy plans
- Reside at our regional locations
- As a PTY LTD — offer independent contracting services to assist YesAbility to deliver services at regional and remote locations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Early Intervention Psychotherapists and Support Coordinators
- Maintain detailed case notes and progress reports using our Echidna database system
- Participate in regular supervision and professional development opportunities
- Proficient and Advanced Experience as a Behaviour Support Practitioner is essential
Qualifications & Requirements
- Relevant Qualification in an Allied Health background or Behavioural Science. Board certified Behaviour Analyst or over 2 years experience in delivering Positive Behaviour Support
- Demonstrated experience working with complex needs and challenging behaviours
- Working with Children’s card, National police clearance and current driving license
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of the NDIS Quality and Safeguard Commission
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Complete indirect and direct assessment including observations and data collection and collate the data for the development of Behaviour Support Plans and Functional Behavioural Assessments
- Support NDIS participants with disability, their carers, family and significant others. Provide training and support in interventions and strategies outlined in the behaviour support plans, which may involve fade out plans for restrictive practices
- Support the participant to meet their person-centred goals
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to lead a team and support other core practitioners
