Job Title: Technical Officer Reports To: Feedlot Manager Location: [Insert Location if applicable] Employment Type: Full-Time Salary: $73,500 – $80,000 per annum Role Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Technical Officer to support feedlot operations through data collection, analysis, and hands-on assistance with animal nutrition, health, and feeding programs. The successful candidate will contribute to quality assurance, research, and production processes, while maintaining site and equipment standards. Key Responsibilities Technical Support & Research Record data related to experimentation, research trials, and animal care. Measure and weigh ingredients used in production and lab testing. Collate and prepare data summaries, charts, and reports. Assemble laboratory or field equipment as required. Prepare samples for analysis, ensuring correct procedures for storage and disposal. Examine livestock or crop specimens for disease or other health issues. Livestock & Nutrition Management Assist farmers and feedlot managers in managing livestock and providing nutrition advice. Assist with bunk calling, batching, milling, and feeding operations. Monitor commodity supply and quality, and report any concerns. Site Maintenance & Equipment Maintain facilities, plant, and equipment in an orderly and functional state. Address or report maintenance issues to the Manager or Maintenance team. Quality & Compliance Work within quality assurance frameworks and systems. Maintain accurate records and contribute to continuous improvement practices. Use feedlot-related software and worksheets effectively. Skills & Experience AQF Diploma/Advanced Diploma or equivalent, or at least three years of relevant experience. Proficient in data entry, analysis, and interpretation. Operational knowledge of feedlot equipment, including feed trucks and feedmills. Ability to learn and use livestock management software systems. Strong record-keeping and reporting skills across multiple business areas.
