Our client is a well-respected, fourth-generation family farming operation known for producing quality Australian lamb in an accredited feedlot at Sanderston, South Australia. Their extensive broadacre cropping program is one part of a diverse operation: finishing over 130,000 lambs per year through the feedlot, a transport and logistics operation and retail firewood sales, all supported by a large and highly skilled team.
As their operations continue to grow, we have an opportunity for a Farm Operations Assistant to join the Cropping team on a full-time basis.
The Role
Working under the guidance of our Cropping Manager and alongside our close-knit and broadly skilled team, our successful candidate will have a passion for all facets of broadacre farming. You'll have experience operating heavy farm machinery and a strong understanding of the requirements of a large-scale farm.
You'll be required to collaborate with our team on all cropping tasks, including seeding, spraying, spreading, hay-making and harvesting, in addition to general repairs and maintenance activities which ensure the efficient operation of the property.
While your focus will be on cropping activities, you'll also be expected to support the broader team with responsibilities in all other areas of the business, with enthusiasm and a team-first attitude.
What you'll bring
Above all, we're looking for someone with a positive approach to working in a dynamic environment. You'll also:
* Have experience with operating heavy farm equipment
* Have a strong understanding of agricultural environments and the crop lifecycle
* Hold an unrestricted Drivers Licence
* Have a willingness to collaborate with a large team to meet the operational needs of the business, however they may change.
* Be adaptable to a variable workday.
What's in it for you?
Our client is located a short distance from Mannum and Mount Pleasant in South Australia and offers:
* An above Award remuneration package, negotiated to reflect your skills and experience
* An engaging workplace culture, with a variety of social and team building activities and opportunities for growth within the business
* A great approach to workplace flexibility and understanding of work-life balance
* A well-stocked kitchen with a wide variety of on-farm facilities.
If this sounds like the opportunity you've been waiting for, we're looking forward to hearing from you! Please submit your application via SEEK with a resume and cover letter explaining your suitability for the role.
