Why this role matters
The Salvation Army (Salvos) Doorways model of care provides holistic financial support to individuals and families seeking short term financial assistance and ongoing financial management support services. The Doorways Team provide person-centred trauma‐informed care, facilitate short‐term financial assistance, and walk side‐by‐side with participants as they build the skills and knowledge to break the cycle of poverty.

About The Role
As a Doorways Caseworker, you will walk alongside community members to build their capacity, strengthen internal resources, and reduce reliance on financial aid. You'll complete assessments, develop case plans, and support people in achieving their goals, including occasional work with young people aged 16–18. This role also contributes to implementing the Doorways model locally, ensuring services reflect TSA's mission, values and legislative requirements. Based in Orange and Bathurst NSW, this is a part time, 4 days a week position. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award, level 4.
How You Will Impact
* Assess community members' specific needs, strengths and identification of interrelated issues and needs
* Develop high quality case plans with community members to identify achievable goals using a strength‐based approach
* Support community members to build and increase capacity and develop independent living skills towards self determination
* Complete assessments and referrals for additional financial support e.g., applications for No Interest Loans (NILS), Energy Assistance, following State based practice guides and processes
* Develop and maintain referral pathways for other support and services
* Provide advocacy to support community members to access services and be connected in their community and be linked to other communities as appropriate
What You Will Bring
* Relevant qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community/Human Services discipline and/or a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in the community services sector.
* A current and valid Working with Children's Check.
* A willingness to undergo a National Police Check.
* A valid WWCC or vulnerable person check is required.
