Career progression
Due to their experience and training, our graduates can progress their careers very quickly. Eighty-seven percent of graduates completing the program stay on to be employed by the Queensland Government post-program. Our graduates' salaries can increase up to $27,000 (based at AO5 level) or more after completing the 2-year program.

What you'll be doing
A graduate graphic designer is responsible for planning, organising and creating a visual response to communication issues. A graphic designer will spend time with the clients to gain a solid understanding of the message that needs to be communicated. The graphic designer will then develop the overall layout of the solution by selecting the colours, sounds, artwork, animation, font type and other visual elements that will all be used in the final solution design.
Once the overall concept has been approved by the customer the graphic artist will then work with other professionals such as printers and photographers to develop the detailed designs that will be used by the client.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities in a graphic design role may include:
preparing work to be accomplished by gathering information and materials
planning concepts by studying information and materials
illustrating concepts by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts
preparing finished copy and art by operating typesetting, printing, and similar equipment; and purchasing from vendors
preparing final layout by marking and pasting up finished copy and art
completing projects by coordinating with outside agencies, art services, printers, etc
contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

To be eligible for the Digital Graduate Program, you must:
Have completed (or will complete) a Bachelor's, Graduate Certificate, or Master's degree between January-**** and December ****. If you have an overseas qualification, it must be recognised in Australia prior to applying. Learn more about the Qualifications Recognition process (
Hold a degree in one of these fields:
Information Technology and related fields: Information technology, cloud computing, cyber security, computer science, data analytics, robotics, information management, mathematics, software or systems engineering.
Emerging Technologies and AI: Artificial intelligence, automation development.
Strategic Management and Business: Business, marketing, or project management.
Design and Creative Industries: Web and multimedia design, user experience (UX) or interactive design.
International students
currently residing in Australia must also have:
Unrestricted working rights in Australia until at least February ****. This includes:
Permanent Residency, citizenship, or work-related visas (e.g., Temporary Graduate 485 Visa) that permit full-time, unrestricted work.
Evidence of transitioning to unrestricted working rights (if on a bridging visa).
