We are currently recruiting for a Field Support and Hardware Technician to join our Product team.
The Field Support and Hardware Technician will perform a range of technical activities including hardware assembly, installation, test and evaluation, calibration, training, repair and maintenance, project support and delivery, across the full suite of Department 13 (D13) system technologies, products and services. Working as part of the broader team of technicians, you will be involved in all stages of the product development lifecycle and work closely with the engineering teams across the business.
This role is based in Canberra and may require domestic and possible international travel to meet contract requirements.
Responsibilities:
* Perform installation, set-to-work, testing, maintenance and repair of D13 technology.
* Perform onsite and/or desktop site surveys for D13 technology installations.
* Liaise with onsite management to plan site visits and perform required onsite tasks.
* Provide training to customers on D13 technology.
* Provide helpdesk and other ongoing support to D13 customers, ensuring our ITSM tool remains up to date with all customer interaction and tickets are distributed accordingly.
* Assist in the update of technical information in support of operating, maintaining and training of D13 technology.
* Assist the engineering and quality assurance teams in testing D13 technology.
* Diagnosing and troubleshooting of faulty equipment or sub-systems.
* Reading and interpreting drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and assembly instructions.
* Prototyping and assembling new designs, testing, and documenting results.
* Cable manufacturing and soldering electronic components on PCBs.
* Utilising safe work procedures, tools, and equipment to perform required work.
* Collaborating with engineers to develop and document manufacturing activities.
* Working with procurement and other teams to ensure availability of key components, tools, and resources.
* Adhering to electrical safety standards, safe work procedures and OH&S requirements.
* Understand Quality, Safety and Environmental principles and adherence to Department 13 processes and work instructions which relate to these matters.
* Other duties as reasonably requested.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will have the ability to understand RF-based technical systems and be skilled in the testing and troubleshooting of product sub-assemblies. You will be extremely detail oriented with a strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement. Strong communication skills, as well as a high level of time management, problem-solving and analytical skills are a must. Ideally you will have:
* Completed Working at Heights and White Card training.
* A current RePL qualification.
* Formal qualification/certification in an IT discipline would be desirable.
* Formal qualification/certification in an installation/telecommunication discipline.
* Minimum 3 years in an RF/Radar/Field Engineering role within a technology related organisation.
* Demonstrated experience in production, installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of RF/Radar-based technology systems.
* Experience with soldering, use of power tools, hand tools and test equipment.
* Experience with piloting drones would be a bonus.
* Excellent troubleshooting, fault finding and general mechanical aptitude.
* Experience in network devices and telecommunications.
* Experience in using Linux OS.
* An understanding of ITIL framework and toolsets.
This position is a hands-on role and is located at our Canberra office. Applicants must hold or have the ability to obtain an Australian Security Clearance.
