About the role
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Artisan Baker to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a hands-on role working across all areas of bread production, including sourdough and yeasted breads. Weekend availability will be required.
You will work alongside an experienced team to produce breads to a consistently high standard, ensuring quality and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
Job tasks and responsibilities
- follow production schedules and procedures to produce artisan bread products from scratch
- lifting, prepare and rotate ingredients for daily production
- feed and monitor sourdough leavens throughout the day
- operate mixers, rounder, sheeter and ovens and other related equipment
- consistently achieving desired dough temperatures
- hand moulding sourdough breads and sweet doughs
- bake products to a consistently high standard
- adhere to a stringent GMP & HACCP programme
- perform general cleaning and maintenance duties as required
Skills and experience
The ideal candidate will have 2+ years’ experience in bread baking including mixing, proving and baking different dough types and a relevant certificate or qualification in baking; committed to a career as a baker and be prepared to work to a high standard in a fast-paced environment both as an individual and in a team.
- experience in sourdough baking in a plant or artisan bakery environment
- strong understanding of sourdough and yeasted breads including fermentation, hand moulding skills are essential
- a positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
- an eye for detail with an appreciation of great sourdough bread
- solid organisational and time management skills
- excellent food hygiene standards with an understanding of HACCP preferred
- excellent physical fitness
