Legal Guidance Expert
This is a key opportunity for an experienced lawyer to provide strategic legal support across the full spectrum of banking and corporate operations.
The ideal candidate will have broad in-house financial services experience, ready to navigate enterprise-wide legal issues—from mergers and employment law to IP/IT procurement and company secretarial matters.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide clear, commercially focused legal advice across banking, corporate, and financial services matters
2. Lead contract negotiation and management, including SLAs, supplier arrangements, finance agreements and corporate initiatives
3. Navigate a complex regulatory landscape and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
4. Support board and governance functions, including advice on director duties, conflicts of interest and statutory reporting
5. Collaborate with business units on risk management and dispute resolution strategies
6. Foster strong stakeholder engagement across senior leadership, regulators and external counsel
Requirements & Experience:
1. Admitted solicitor in NSW with at least 7–10 years' post-qualification experience in financial services, banking or corporate law
2. Expertise in consumer and retail banking law, with an ability to manage a broad portfolio of legal issues (including employment, IP/IT procurement and governance)
3. Strong knowledge of financial services laws and regulations
4. Proven stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence at executive and board level
5. A collaborative, pragmatic and commercially minded approach to legal problem-solving
6. Familiarity with customer-owned institutions will be well regarded
