The role
As a Natural Resource Management Project Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting government priorities for the sustainable management of Crown land. This dynamic position involves conducting property and field inspections, managing stakeholder relationships, and overseeing procurement and project delivery. You'll provide expert advice on environmental, planning, and land management matters, ensuring that technical assessments align with legislative requirements and community expectations.
Your work will contribute directly to the protection and enhancement of natural assets, balancing ecological integrity with responsible land use. With a strong focus on collaboration, you'll engage with councils, community groups, and other key stakeholders to deliver practical solutions that support long-term stewardship of public land.
What You'll Be Doing
* Conduct environmental assessments and land use planning to support Crown land outcomes
* Provide expert advice on land and property management issues to internal and external clients
* Prepare and present reports grounded in sound scientific and planning principles
* Lead stakeholder engagement and coordinate land use projects across diverse communities
* Manage hazard reduction activities to minimise public liability risks
* Offer technical guidance to staff on environmental and natural resource management practices
* Maintain accurate records and ensure timely data entry across relevant systems

What You Will Bring To The Role
* Proven experience in conducting environmental assessments and land use planning
* Strong knowledge of natural resource and Crown land management practices
* Ability to deliver clear, scientifically grounded reports and recommendations
* Skilled in stakeholder engagement and project coordination across diverse groups
* Familiarity with hazard reduction strategies and risk mitigation in public land contexts
* Capacity to provide technical guidance and build environmental awareness within teams
* High attention to detail and proficiency in maintaining accurate records and data systems
What Is An Essential Requirement
* Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, natural resources, planning or other relevant field and/or equivalent level of knowledge and experience in the industry.
* Current driver's licence and willingness to travel.
